The fish offers quite a lot of sightseeing thanks to how high it can potentially jump out of water. Considering the list of utilities which it offers, it wasn’t hard for United Nations General Assembly to create a day namely World Tuna Day meant for this beautiful, captivating and extremely utility creature on earth. The day was firstly observed in 2017.
Based on the necessities and utilities it offer, Tuna fish is economically important for developing as well as developed countries.
The list of countries depending on tuna resources seems to be never ending as they depend on nutrition, security, employment, economic development, culture, livelihood etc. Considering the series of never ending benefits which the fish offers, it is not hard for anyone to relate the extent of utilities which the fish is associated with amongst the masses.
Tuna is a fish which can weigh up to 2000 pounds. Considering the heavy and large body, it is equally quite impressive as it is capable of changing the position of dorsal and pectoral fins for increasing the speed. The fish is equally capable of finding food and it can reach to the depth of whopping 3000 feet or can search for the food just at the sea surface. The speed is quite noteworthy as the fish maintain a 43 miles per hour speed. The fish has roughly 15 to 30 years of life span on an average. Based on how interesting and significantly important, the fish is, the blue fin can be ten feet in length.
It seems that nature has taken a lots of time to create a fish which can gel with water as the dorsal is dark blue colored which blends with ocean floor as you look from up above.
Over-fishing threatens Tuna
Considering the unabated use of Tuna fish, it is no surprise that there is an advisory warning from World Wildlife Fund (WWF) where it is said that blue fin has come in the category of endangered species. Yes, the prime factor is the overfishing and naturally steps need to be taken to curtail the same. Naturally, the big day is to create awareness about how we are over doing something which needs to be immediately stopped.
