International awareness
The UN-led campaign, which aims to raise awareness of migratory birds and the importance of international cooperation to conserve them, is organized by a collaborative partnership among two UN treaties – the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) and the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (AEWA) – and the Colorado-based non-profit organization, Environment for the Americas (EFTA).
The world has rightly become sensitized as it is a campaign which is led by the UN to gather international cooperation for conserving them where treaties in the form of Convention on Migratory Species along with African – Eurasian Waterbird Agreement have come to existence. Since, there is an aim and objective to safeguard these migratory birds on their foreign journeys. Yes, proper focus has been laid towards this as lots of procedural norms are in the pipeline to create trans-boundary habitat corridors for these migratory birds.
Steps to be taken for their safety
There should be proper grounds to be laid for them where they can carry with their important exercises in the form of feeding, breeding, sheltering, nesting etc as it understandably becomes very important during long journeys.
Birds face a series of threats right through their journeys in the form of loss of habitat along with illegal hunting. There is absolutely no end to the dangers which arise along with, which may become so big that they even be poisoned. Similarly, there have been various instances of how birds have collided with power lines, wind turbines along with buildings which have outer glass covering.
Migratory birds speak volumes about how beautiful nature is. Yes, most of us would have experienced “Wow” moments while witnessing their beauty at a specific time of the year. Hence, for such cute birds, it is time for us to be sensitized where their migration path needs to be conserved as there is a need for restoring the habitats along with ecosystems.
It is important to conserve them where there should be proper coordination for creating the entire flyway between countries.
