Respected Principal Sir, honourable Chief Guest, eminent teachers and all my friends, a very warm and pleasant Good Morning to all of you. Today is 5th September, and we all are gathered here to celebrate the special occasion of Teachers Day. The tradition of celebrating Teachers day started in 1962. This day is celebrated to remember Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on this day. He was a great philosopher, teacher, scholar and a politician. Dr Radhakrishnan was a very friendly and a hard-working teacher, which is due to his friendly nature students insisted him to get his birthday celebrated grandly. But, Dr Radhakrishnan asked them to get his birthday celebrated in the pride and honour of all the teachers. This special day we appreciate all the hard work and dedication of our teachers who work day and night to provide us with the right knowledge so that it can lead us to a good path.

Teachers sacrifice their whole life in educating us. They play a very powerful role in the development of our nation because the right knowledge and education is the basis on which a country can develop. We are the future of our country. In India, teachers are even considered as the second parent of a child because from the very young age a child starts his/her schooling life. The teacher teaches a child even how to pick up the pencil and write and not only that it’s our teachers only who inbuilt values in us. Parents give birth to children, look after them, feed them and love them. Whereas the teacher plays the most important role in a students life and that is educating us. Today I can give this speech is only because of my teachers, they taught me alphabets and numbers and today I am here at this podium, delivering a speech in front of you all. All credits go to my teachers.
Teachers do teach us not only subjects but also teaches the various lessons of life. They teach us the importance of hard work, discipline, ethics and many more life lessons. From science to PT classes, they teach us different subjects that are important for us to acquire our higher education. But once the student gets out of his school life, he forgets the efforts of his school teachers who taught him everything to stand out where he is standing right now. We should always look back at them and thanks them for everything he taught to us.
Generally, we all don’t know how hard is the life of a teacher and what he goes through in his entire life. We think that their lives are easy as they only have to teach, but they also have a family to look after. Some even stay away from their family to do their jobs. They are asked to do the administrative work, exam supervision, question paper setting, timetable preparation, guidance on projects and what not. The list doesn’t stop here, they are even supposed to go for their election duties during elections, also attend seminars.
They also have a personal life, but for the sake of us, they focus more on us so that we can build our educational level and be the reason for our country to develop. I want to thank all the teachers present over here for making us who we are today. At last, I want to thank every one of you who gathered here to make this day special.
