Free 4 Of July History
The United States have got independence on the ‘Fourth of July’. Britishers have freed the people of America from their slavery on July 4, 1776. It is announced as a federal holiday in whole country commemorating the freedom. Thirteen American colonies were announced to be independent as declared by Continental States.
Nonessential institutions like postal service and federal courts are officially declared to be closed on this day. Crackers are busted with the patriotic songs and some anthems like “God bless America”, “America the Beautiful” etcetera. This day creates a sense of unity and empowers the feeling of patriotism between the citizens which can be easily observed through flag hosting ceremonies.
Most interesting point is that both signatories named Thomas Jefferson and John Adams who have declared the independence also died on the July 4,1826 which was the 50th anniversary of this freedom declaration. Since 19th century, this day is celebrated in the form of leisure activities like fireworks, barbecues etcetera. The common symbol of this holiday is American Flag and the national anthem named “The Star-Spangled Banner”.
Over the years even if the political importance of this day would decline, July 4th will still be considered symbolizing patriotism.
