World Post Day is celebrated every year on 9th October year with lots of enthusiasm.

With the afflux of globalization, every year some famous days are celebrated as a part of our lives. The World Post Day is also one such event which endows the people with a solid platform to get the awareness and to spread also. The anniversary of this day is based upon the establishment of Universal Post Union which was done in 1874 but was officially declared later.

In the year 1969, the day has got the avowal by the UPU Congress on 9th October which was withheld in Tokyo, Japan. After that, it became an international day for celebration when the postal unions of various countries promulgate the amendments along with preamble of the latest policies.

After the commitment of maintenance of sustainable development in 2015, almost every country of the world committed that they will work for the welfare of the people. The main ambition for joining the hands together was putting a halt on the poverty, hunger. There were many other issues too which needed a lot of attention to be paid, and those include inequality and injustice.

Along with fighting these issues, Postal Unions play a more significant role too which is about endowing the people with infrastructure which can work in favor of development of the populace. Every year, UPU do some tasks and competition to enhance the skills of people especially the youth generation. The conduction of the competition is to recognize the talent and to let that shine.

The main conduct of the UPU includes international letter-writing competition in which youth people participate with a lot of enthusiasm and present their great skills with us. It is not a matter of a few days, as the postal systems are running for many centuries, which had started working for the welfare of people from the very first day when it got the initiation.

In the older days, people had different modes to transfer the letters to another person which were just antique. Putting a letter in a red letterbox is a conversation seems like it was happening yesterday only, whereas our ancestors used to convey messages with the assistance of some special messengers either by the foot on the back of the horseback. But, with the advancements in the technologies letters got overlapped behind the messages sending websites and applications.

The World Post day is a day which can assist us in making us understand about the importance of the letters which are related to us with the help of some better connections. The beginning of the postage system takes the breath in the 1600s after which it used to spread like the flu and people began to follow across the whole world. Initially, it was used to follow only within the countries, but it got spread as an international medium with the fleeting dates on the calendar.

In the 1800s, it had become the global post service, but it was not much active at that time as it was very challenging to perform the postal service those days. With the ticking of the clock, postal services also got enhancement like as any other field, and then the UPU took birth in 1874 and made the things and processes effortless for the welfare of people but it became a UN agency in 1948.

The whole credit of the World Post Day celebrations goes to Shri Anand Mohan Narula who played a major role in the capitulation of the proposal. From that day, the World Post Day is celebrated every year with lots of enthusiasm so that every common person can measure the depths of postal services right from its present to its past.
