Halloween is a Celtic festival which is celebrated by the saints all over the world. We can call this festival as a secular celebration which is usually celebrated on ending of lighter side and the commencement of a darker side ( 31 October).

This event (Halloween Day) is arranged at a large scale because Christians believe that at the time of Halloween festival, the supernatural powers and human powers get gathered. In actual, this day is celebrated in the commemoration of the dead people.

The kids of the Christian religion dress up as devils just in the obituary of that supernatural spirit. Because of historical myths, this day is often said to be a scary holiday. This day is also known as the New year day among the Ancient pagans of British estates. As per the survey conducted in the U.S., it has been concluded that the haunted attractions get more than 4 lakh customers on the eve of this festival. The style of celebration of this day varies from country to country.

On the eve of this holy day of Christians, many Halloween activities are arranged namely-

  • Trick and treating: This is a secular activity in which the children go to every house asking for the treat. This treat can be in the form of eatables or money. If anyone denies their request, then the person is punished.
  • Wearing pretty costumes
  • Attending costume parties
  • Watching horror movies
  • Visiting scary places
  • Lighting bonfires

In ancient times, the Christians worshipped over 300 gods. On the 31st of October, they pay obeisance to the sun as their chief God. The people also wear masks or blackens their faces to get saved from the eyes of that spirit. This concept of ghosts gets initiated in Romans the first time. This night is also known as mischief night when the villagers play pranks on each other. To commemorate this event, the children burn crops and their animals as the sacrifice paid to the Celtic deities. In the 19th century, this was the community centered holy day in which parades and get together parties were arranged.

There is one more history joined with this day which is based on the story of Celts, who lived on Earth 2000 years ago. He believed that one night before the New year eve, all the boundary lines between the world of the living and dead people start vanishing. It is commonly assumed that on the 31st October’s night, the evil spirits landed the Earth. In the beginning, people used to burn the crops and sacrifice the animals so that they can stop the upcoming bad fate on Earth.

They used to wear the animal skins on that day so that they could burn the evil vibes into the sacred born fire. After that, this belief got spread among many generations, and they used to celebrate this day as Halloween day. Now, the people dress like ghosts, and the same tradition of burning fires is still in continuation. In this way, people protect their near and dear ones from winter and also from the evil spirits.
