National Youth Day / Youth Day in India is celebrated in India on 12 January every year. In 1984, the Indian government had declared that Swamiji’s birthday would be celebrated as the National Youth Day. Therefore National Youth Day was first celebrated in 1985 and it has been an indelible part of India’s tradition. 12 January is the day when Swami Vivekananda, one of the greatest social reformers, thinkers, and philosophers of India, was born.

A person with this knowledge or divine light, can work wonders. Good and evil thoughts have an equal share in moulding character of a person. It is, therefore, the education that can transmute the evil tendencies of ones mind. Personality is the influence, the impression which one creates on the others. Swami Vivekananda views on mankind were very good and praiseworthy. Swami Vivekananda said, “Through education, we should gradually reach the idea of universal brotherhood by flinging down the walls of separation and inequality. Swami Vivekananda said in every man and animal, however weak or miserable, great or small, resides the same omnipresent and omniscient soul. The difference is not in the soul, but in manifestation.

As we all know, the youth are the future of our country India. It is them who are supposed to take our country India forward in the days to come. This is the reason why we need to celebrate this day. To have bright future of India , youth have to be inspired to act and think in a positive manner and feasibly the best way to do that is through the teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

National Youth Day / Youth Day in India is celebrated in schools, colleges and universities on large scale. The main aim behind its celebration is to is to make definite that the students and children across the country moreover world, can be encouraged to learn about the life, the ideals and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda and apply those good things in their lives. Various activities, recitations, music, songs, conventions, Yogasanas, presentations, competition for essay-writing, seminar, sports, competitions are organized in schools to enhance the creativity level of students . Various Plays are organized in school to show how true heroes of India like Swami Vivekananda , Dr. Baba saheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhiji, and Many more have spend their life and what struggles they had faced throughout their life in achieving their goal.
