Central Excise Day Celebration in India is commemorated every year on 24th of February. Various activities are held in all the branches of Central Board of Excise and Custom to encourage, honor them and reward them for their matchless sincere duty towards the Government and country’s economy. Different awareness programs, workshops and seminars are also organized on this day.
Brief Information about Central Excise
Central Board of Excise and Custom is a government agency responsible for administering matters relating to customs, central excise, service tax, narcotics and other things.
The Central Board of Excise and Custom is one of the oldest government agencies in India. Central Board of Excise and Custom was established in 1855 as the Customs and General Excise department. Currently Central Board of Excise and Custom operates in the Ministry of Finance which is under the Department of Revenue. Central Board of Excise and Custom is responsible for collecting excise duty, service tax, customs duty and narcotics duty. It prevents smuggling and drug trafficking in India.
ONE SHOULD GET REGISTERED
People who are engaged in the activities like producing or manufacturing the excisable goods in the country need to get registered to the excise department.if a person is thinking get engaged or getting engaged he should first register. Group of people who need to get registered are given below:-
- owner of any showroom or owner of any warehouse
- dealer or importer and many others etc.
To get registered with excise department an application along with form R-1 should be submitted to Range Superintendent.People, who are engaged in production and manufacturing of excisable goods that come under The Central Excise Tariff Act of the year 1985, must fulfill or take care of following conditions:-
- The goods manufactured by them should be movable.
- The goods produced by them should be marketable and produced by the manufacturing process.
- The goods they are manufacturing should be declared in the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985.
